My Little Pony Cake February 2014

I made this My Little Pony cake for my roommate's nieces birthday party. For this cake, I decided to experiment with candy clay. It's basically just like modeling chocolate only made with Wilton candy melts. It was really fun to work with and I thought it had good results. Even though my ponies didn't turn out as professional-looking as I would have liked, I didn't think they were too bad for my first attempt and considering that I've never been good at drawing or sculpting. I did have a bit of a disaster on the fondant for this one. I put too much powdered sugar in it and it turned out very stiff. It was almost impossible to knead and was not as stretchy as usual when I went to put it on the cake. It was lucky I had all those flowers to cover up the tears and folds in the bottom tier of the cake. I think it looks good as a whole, but the individual elements turned out more messy than I would have hoped.
