I did this cake for my niece on her first birthday. It is an applesauce cake covered in cream cheese frosting. The owl and pumpkins are made of rice krispie treats and fondant with tootsie rolls for the stems. The tree was a flat wood form from a craft store that I covered in modeling chocolate. The apples and leaves are made of fondant.
I'm not sure why we thought we needed both cookies and cake for this party, but they turned out cute, right? We used a tulip cookie cutter to get the owl shape then decorated with sugar eyes and icing.
We also figured out how to make colorful muddie buddies to coordinate with our party colors. You just add a few drops of food coloring to the dry powdered sugar!
